In this new battle that covers all the contents of "Full Warhammer", everyone can fully experience the charm of "Hall War".
When it comes to the "Total War" series, in addition to the spectacular scenes of thousands of soldiers fighting on the screen, its huge strategic map has always been talked about by many all-war enthusiasts. When the "Total War" series came to the magical medieval warhammer, CA's official promise to "full display the world of medieval warhammer" made people look forward to the final product.
The "Empire of the World" map that includes all contents of the first and second generations in "Warhammer 2"
Now, with continuous updates and improvements, the new battle mode "Extraordinary Empire" that integrates all regions and contents of the Warhammer Trilogy is about to be officially launched tomorrow. Players can finally fully experience the unique charm brought by the "Total War: Warhammer" series.
Ps: The current "Extraordinary Empire" is still in a beta version. After a series of updates and repairs, the official version will meet you within the year.
How big is the extraordinary empire?
Big, it was my first impression after getting the beta game. Compared with the Mother Empire, the big map of "Warhammer 2" which was released in 2017, the Mother Empire has twice the size of the former, and the initial factions have increased from 183 of the Mother Empire to 278 today.
The Battle Map of the Extraordinary Empire
The increase in the size of the map not only represents the increase in the players' selectable factions and exploreable areas, but also means that the original campaign situation of many factions has undergone new changes. The supreme king of the dwarves lost the advantage of being in the corner due to the eastward expansion of the map and could no longer develop in peace and comfortably as before; and the tomb king Setra, located in the land of the dead in the middle and lower part of the map, became the biggest "victim" of this update to some extent. Because in "The Super Empire", four legendary lords were suddenly stuffed around it. No matter which direction it was going, there would always be someone standing in front of it...
The Red Frame Faction is Setra of the Tomb King
However, for most factions, while there are many "enthusiastic" neighbors around them, exchanges and alliances with other regional forces also provide them with more important help. From the Lizardmen in Ruscia to the east to the mysterious Swordsman Dynasty, under the alliance system of "Warhammer 3", these allies that span the vast and vast seas are no longer useless burdens. Whether they are commanding them to attack the enemy from the front and back, or directly recruiting soldiers from allies, in a larger extraordinary empire, all forces have a completely different new experience from before through the expansion of the map and their interactions with surrounding forces.
The only drawback is that I can't recruit allies' DLC troops. I hope that CA can fix this problem in subsequent updates
New changes in old factions
In addition to changes in the battle situation, almost all factions have ushered in changes of different sizes, from redone to fine-tuning. For example, the great priest Walker of the Empire, in addition to moving the starting location to Sadenburg in the south of the map, CA also added to him the "Book of Nagash" mechanism shared with Manfred, the tomb king and the vampire Count. Through searching and fighting across the entire map, the great priest will be able to collect and seal these books to obtain a series of benefits including the electoral army and faction Buff.
This cross-map behavior also happens to the newly added Bilak. As the first demon prince in the setting, Billak not only has abilities such as evil manifestation and Chaos Rift, but he can also use all the contents in the "Chaos Champion Warriors" DLC.
The rework of the Chaos Warrior faction in DLC makes it the most changed force after the update of the extraordinary empire. The new mechanism of the Dark Fortress and the Forced Duska faction gave Chaos Warriors a stable rear; the war gang mechanism that can recruit and promote soldiers anytime and anywhere further strengthened the army's replenishment and recruitment capabilities; finally, the addition of the marking unit and the Chaos Gift complemented the Chaos Warriors' military system, and ensured that the intensity of their battles and combat was not lagging behind the many existing factions.
Ps: About DLC, you can move to the Chaos Champion Warriors DLC review for more information.
After this series of rework and strengthening, in addition to the Chaos Demon faction that was used to the Imprint Unit and the Billak just mentioned, the three Chaos Legend Lords who appeared in "Warhammer 1" also became the best choice for experiencing Chaos Warriors after rework.
Now the Chaos Warriors' troops can be described as luxury
Whether it is relying on a series of attribute bonuses and gift bonuses to be unparalleled in the sea of soldiers, or the rich and diverse military allocation and the powerful technology tree after redone to create an invincible army of destruction, with the update of the champion Warriors DLC, the Chaos Warriors represented by "Eternal God Selection" has now become the first-tier force with both the strength of the battle with mod enhancement.
End Crisis Need to Be Improved
In addition to improving existing content, CA has also added a new set of "End Crisis" to "Extraordinary Empire" specifically for the mid- and late stages of the game. To put it simply, the final crisis is that after meeting specific conditions, the game will create a large number of reinforcements falling from the sky for specific factions, as well as a series of powerful buffs such as reducing maintenance fees, increasing development rate and combat attributes.
With the full strengthening of AI, the factions that were originally suppressed or even completely eliminated by players will "grow up" again and become the strongest opponent in front of players. When I'm in the middle of the gameI was controlled by the "Eternal God-Choose" Aicharn attacked everywhere. When he was conquering the city and the ground, these high-level and large numbers of AI reinforcements caught me off guard. I had to transfer troops from other fronts back to block the fierce offensive of AI.
After the final crisis is triggered, these factions will declare war forcibly to attack the players' areas and armies
This is just my experience under the default conditions. Before officially starting the game, players can also customize the intensity of the final crisis by triggering a series of settings such as time, crisis types and difficulty.
There are currently only the final crisis of the five races: Tomb King, Dwarf, Green Skin, Wood Elf and Vampire in the game
From the current experience, the final crisis has brought some changes to the players' boring gameplay of flat-stop pushes in the middle and late stages. With the complete replacement of the chaos invasion mechanism of previous works by the End Crisis, the End Crisis can also give them the challenges they deserve when players use the Chaos Faction, rather than the loneliness and boredom that is invincible in the world. But under the current final crisis, AI reinforcements are basically only active in the old world area in the middle of the map. If players choose forces such as Zhendan and High Elves that are 108,000 miles away from the old world, then the reinforcements produced by these final crisis will most likely be consumed by other AIs before finding you, which makes this mechanism a bit embarrassing to a certain extent. I hope that in the future updates, CA can continue to improve and carry forward this new mechanism that replaces the original chaos invasion.
Conclusion
As the largest campaign script ever written in the Total War series, "The Great Empire" has made changes and improvements in many aspects. The changes in the strategic situation brought about by the huge new map, the improvements to existing content, and the newly added final crisis have made the current test version very playable. However, the existence of problems such as too few types of end crises and the inability to recruit allies DLC troops has left room for improvement in the current test version. If CA repairs and improves it in subsequent updates, I believe "The Super Empire" will definitely become an impressive milestone work in the history of the entire war.
