"Hongxia Island" interview said that the game duration was about 20 hours and explained the reason why I didn't use Unreal 5

Recently, Harvey Smith, the creative director of "Red Xia Island", explained why the game is not made using Unreal 5 engine in an interview with Wccftech. It turns out that the release of Unreal 5 engine is not consistent with the development time of "Red Xia Island". Unreal 5 was released until the mid-stage of the game development.

He said: "When the project was halfway through, Epic announced Unreal Engine 5, but the game was made based on Unreal Engine 4.26. If we had more time, we might choose Unreal 5, but upgrading to 4.26 also requires a lot of work."

Game development is often very challenging, and while Epic Games does its best to make it as easy as possible for developers to transition from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, it still takes quite a while to make the decision to change the engine during development.

Also in this interview, Harvey Smith revealed that the game's level is 40, and the game flow is within 20 hours, but it may take more time for many players, especially if you do safe houses, nests, and explore the entire world. He also revealed that the game does not include microtransactions, which will be the most supported game of Arkane.

"Red Xia Island" will be released on May 2, and will be available on XSX/S and PC platforms, and will be added to XGP for the first time. Stay tuned.
