Soviet Kirov-class cruiser, with strong attack power and amazing displacement

In the colonial era, the vast areas of Asia, Africa and Latin America were successively included in their colonial spheres of influence by Western powers. In order to meet the strategic needs of quickly reaching the above-mentioned colonial territories, Western countries began to develop new maritime equipment, which is a cruiser with firepower strike and navigation capabilities.

As early as World War II, cruisers were widely used by participating countries to form a large-scale development pattern, but with the end of the war, they were gradually eliminated. However, a cruiser developed by the Soviet Union was retained and became an important symbol for continuing the glory of this type of equipment. It was the Kirov-class cruiser.

It is reported that the Soviet Union had developed three Kirov-class cruisers, namely Kirov, Fulongzhi and Admiral Nashimov. As the largest cruiser in humanity to date, the Kirov-class cruiser is 250 meters long and 28 meters wide, with a huge displacement of 24,000 tons, making it the largest battleship after an aircraft carrier. It is worth noting that this cruiser uses nuclear power as its propulsion force and can almost meet unlimited ranges. During normal cruise, the Kirov cruiser needs to be controlled by more than 900 crew members, and its personnel configuration is beyond imagination!

In terms of firepower, the Kirov-class cruiser can carry more than 400 missiles, which is enough to win the title of arsenal ship on the basis of ensuring its strong attack power, and can even compete with the aircraft carrier! However, in terms of target detection, the cruiser seems to be inadequate. It is reported that the Kirov cruiser has a three-coordinate radar that can detect large fighter jets within an effective combat radius of 366 kilometers, but cannot effectively detect sea surface information. However, if we think of the Soviet Union's weak tradition in electronic equipment systems, the above situation is "explainable". In fact, the Rikirov cruiser was already good in that era!

It is understood that the Soviet Union had some interesting stories during its development of the cruiser. For example, in order to counter the idea that the then leader Khrushchev did not attach importance to naval construction, the Soviet Navy Commander-in-Chief Gorshkov took advantage of the other party's resignation to quickly launch a large number of warship research and development projects, and retaliatedly launched aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers and other equipment. After Berzrenev came to power, the Soviet Navy launched the upgrade and transformation of the Kirov-class cruiser to meet the maximum cost of its capacity, increasing its tonnage to 24,000 tons, and also equipped the cruiser with a nuclear power system. So the world's largest cruiser was born. However, due to the high construction cost factors, the Kirov cruiser did not really play a key role later and became a "scattered rib"!
