New direction of the open world interactive mechanism of Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Introduction to the core gameplay of Assassin's Creed Odyssey)

The Assassin's Creed series has always maintained its own unique formula, the most distinctive of which is its open-world interactive mechanism. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood lays a solid foundation element, and players act as fraternity members to sneak in and occupy various Borgia family fortresses. This time, Ubisoft Quebec Studio, which is responsible for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, will evolve the world's interactive mechanisms into new directions.

Scott Phillips, the game director of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, introduced in an interview with the media that players will be able to do many interesting things during their wandering time. For example, in the context of the Peloponnesa War, the war between Sparta and Athens will allow players to interfere. Although the actions of the two protagonists can influence the situation, the behavior of the player will not directly lead to the outcome of the entire war. The most important thing is to get corresponding rewards through player participation.

Ubisoft Quebec Creative Director Jonathan Dumont explains:

The whole world is a big game of chess that is moving by itself, with 28 city-states, some of which belong to Athens and some to Sparta. We hope that players can choose any force at any time because the player's identity is a mercenary.

Although the two protagonists were born in Sparta, the protagonist must have no political tendency. Therefore, players can choose to protect either party, and the main choice of the player will be the mission rewards.

The resources, strength, and ability to start wars of each city-state will be displayed to the players in the form of a power slot. Players will have many in-game behaviors that can weaken a city-state, such as killing soldiers, destroying supplies, stealing city-state treasures, and finally killing their leader directly, leaving them in the most vulnerable state.

After the task is completed, the player can freely choose the next direction to receive the reward. This city-state may be attacked later. Players will decide where to focus their attention. Choosing to Guard Athens might be the most correct in history, but Guarding Sparta might be suitable for the two-week experience.

This game has added contract tasks and bounty tasks to the original task system. Contract tasks are equivalent to long-term tasks, and usually have a group or camp as the ultimate goal. It may take 30 minutes to complete. Other tasks may only take 5 minutes.

Because the war leaders will also issue missions, the next faction's mission will hit the forces of another faction. The in-game announcement board provides some neutral bounty goals. Ubisoft interspersed with real historical figures among some bounty goals.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will also provide many dilemmas, love options, RPG mechanisms, etc., which will undoubtedly meet the many requirements of new and old players.
