Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) wakes up before the death penalty is about to be executed and finds that he was selected by Sophia (played by Marion Cotillard) to participate in a project that can free human beings from violent impulses. After being tied to the machine, Callum Lynch realized that he was descended from an assassin Aguila during the Spanish religious courts, they were looking for an Eden apple that controls free will. Under the pressure exerted by his father Allen (Jeremy Irons), Sophia reluctantly manipulates Callum Lynch back in the past to find the whereabouts of the Garden of Eden Apple in the modern world, threatening his physical and mental health. But after the killer’s fellow Musa (Michael Williams) hints at Callum Lynch and reminds him that Allen may have impure motives, Callum Lynch begins to reconsider his behavior and motivations, and the fate of human free will becomes undecided…
