The MSI brand has always been a symbol of excellent quality and good workmanship for gamers and geeks. Therefore, many people will consider MSI when purchasing PCs. In order to meet the needs of players, MSI has also launched many gaming notebooks. However, MSI's notebooks are also divided into several systems: GT that represents performance, balanced GE and thin GS that represents lightweight. In order to give everyone an intuitive experience, we chose three representatives of different series, GT62VR, GE73VR and GS63VR, to see how these notebooks perform when facing the 3A masterpieces.

This time we chose the game to be "Assassin's Creed: Origin", which is the latest work of Ubisoft's masterpiece "Assassin's Creed". This generation of works has achieved good reputation among the media and players. However, since Ubisoft uses dual encryption this time, players generally report that the game is very CPU-intensive. In addition, the 3A masterpieces generally burn graphics cards, that is, the game "Assassin's Creed: Origin" has quite high requirements for computer configuration. So, let’s take a look at the actual test of the three laptops!
GT62VR with performance is king
MSI's GT series notebooks have been positioned from the beginning to be the king of performance. Although the configuration of this computer is not high in the GT series, it is smaller than other machines in the same series, making it more suitable for a carry-on gaming computer. Moreover, the price is more affordable than other products in the same series.
Let's take a look at the detailed configuration of this host.
i7-7700HQ CPU + 16G memory + GTX 1070 graphics card is enough to cope with almost all the masterpieces on the market. A 1TB mechanical hard drive and a 128GB solid-state hard drive can also fully meet the storage needs of ordinary users. The screen is 15.3 inches and has a 120Hz refresh rate, which is enough for gamers.
Below, let's take a look at how this notebook performs when running Assassin's Creed: Origins.
Of course, start with the default image quality. Although the game comes with performance detection and rating, it is only for the recent 30-second data, and the short-term data has large errors. So, we still use fraps to record and then generate curves to compare.
The average FPS of this game is 81.94 under the default picture quality, and there is obvious frame drop when skipping animations. The rest of the moments are very stable, and the game can be played very smoothly.
Then we turn the picture quality to the highest level.
At this time we can see that the game's FPS has dropped, but not much. And the frame nowThe rate is also significantly higher than 60 frames, and the smooth game is stress-free.
Compared with other games, players will choose to be smoother and sacrifice a little picture quality. "Assassin's Creed: Origin" which provides a photography mode will allow more people to choose the highest picture quality. After all, compared with sacrificing a little performance and frame rate, players will care more about whether the photos they take are good-looking, right?
Summary:
In this test, in terms of performance, there is no problem playing "Assassin's Creed: Origin" in GT62VR, including the highest picture quality. However, the 15.3-inch screen will make people feel unsatisfied. But thinking about the affordable price and good portability of this laptop, this regret is acceptable.
GE73VR, which is mainly balanced
GE is a series that focuses on balance in MSI notebooks. GE73VR is the best in this series. Compared with the domineering and exposed GT series, the GE series looks more restrained and low-key. But this does not mean that performance will be degraded. GE73VR is also equipped with i7-7700HQ + 16G memory + GTX 1070 configuration, and the hard disk is also a 1TB mechanical hard disk + GB solid-state hard disk. However, the GE73VR uses a 17.3-inch screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The following is the detailed configuration.
To test performance, we still enter Assassin's Creed: Origins. The first step is to default image quality.
We can see that the average FPS of the game is as high as 77.6, and I skipped a lot of animations when testing this computer. The game runs more frequently. So the data is weaker than the GT62VR, but because the screen size is larger, I personally feel that the visual effect is better. The actual performance is almost the same as the configuration of the two machines, so it is actually not much different.
Then we turned on the highest image quality, and the game's frame rate began to drop slightly. But like the GT62VR, although the frame rate is slightly lower, it is still very smooth.
Under extremely high picture quality, the game's FPS dropped to 61.53. But it is also significantly higher than 60FPS, which means that the experience given to players is still first-class, so you can play selfies in the game with confidence and boldness.
Summary:
GE73VR is positioned balanced, but its performance is still strong. The 17.3-inch 120Hz screen makes Assassin's Creed: Origins fully showcase the beautiful scenery of Egypt. Moreover, the right thickness and weight, coupled with very good performance, also make it possible to meet the needs whether it is for business trips or daily household use.
Light and flexible GS63VR
MicroStar's GS series focuses on thin and lightweight, and this GS63VR is no exception. Therefore, this laptop is mainly aimed at people who are business or who are often on business trips. In addition to busy work, let them enjoy a game occasionally during the journey and relax. Therefore, lightweight does not mean that performance will decline.
GS63VR adopts i7-7700HQ+GTX1060+16G memory configuration, and the hard disk is also a 128GB solid-state drive + 1TB mechanical hard disk. The screen is the same as the GT62VR, and it is 15.3 inches, but the refresh rate is only 60Hz.
Let's continue to use Assassin's Creed: Origins to test it. The default high-quality mode is still started.
This notebook is actually very smooth when running games. After all, the average frame rate is 55.92, and most of the time it is stable at over 50.
Next, we set the picture of this game to a very high level and then enter the game for testing.
After adjusting to extremely high picture quality, the game's frame rate did not drop much, with the average frame rate of 51.91. Moreover, most of the time, the frame rate of this game is stable at over 40. As for personal experience, the overall situation is still very smooth.
However, because this laptop is designed too lightly, there is not much space left for heat dissipation, which causes the machine to be hot after playing games for a long time, which affects the game quality and machine performance to a certain extent.
Summary:
GS63VR is a laptop designed for business people with office-based entertainment as the auxiliary, but its performance is still very good. But such a thin and pretty appearance is very suitable for business people or girls who don’t like silly big guys.
Summary:
MSI notebooks have conquered countless people with good workmanship as always, and have beautiful appearance that suits their respective styles. The three notebooks tested this time also left a very deep impression on me. The compact and domineering GT62VR, the low-key and restrained GE73VR and the light and agile GS63VR all have very powerful performance. It can completely conquer the masterpieces on the market. So, even if you choose one you like, they will always meet your needs.
